RSVP Report - August 2011
By Kala Meadows

Due to a severe reduction in funding to RSVP, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the role of RSVP volunteers takes on a greater challenge than ever before.  Our volunteers help fill the gap left by the cuts in funding to non-profit and governmental agencies.  They provide needed assistance in our hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, senior centers, thrift shops, and other service agencies thereby freeing up employees to more effectively do their jobs. Our volunteers will continue to provide services to the community in spite of cutbacks.

Thanks to all the volunteer coordinators who work tirelessly in many areas. They plan activities, educational programs presented by professionals in the community and outings designed to entertain and educate their charges.

Welcome to our new volunteers:

Barbara Lachney and Francis O’Connell who volunteer at CHRISTUS Cabrini Hospital,
Diane Ardoin at Rapides Regional Medical Center and
Joyce Smith at Rapides Senior Center at Ball.
