RSVP Report
By Kala Meadows

Fall has finally arrived and we welcome the cooler temperatures following the intense heat that we experienced this summer. Many of our stations have outdoor activities and field trips planned for this month. In addition, October is the month traditionally associated with fall festivals and parish fairs which are popular attractions in our area.

The RSVP staff and several volunteers, including veterans, participated in a Day of Service
at the Alexandria Mall on September 10th to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
American flags were distributed and blood pressure readings were taken. Thanks to our Advisory Council members who so generously gave up their Saturday to assist the staff.
They are Alge and Helen Schnexnaider, Patsy Peterman, Jessie Sutton and Wiley Heard.
We appreciate the support of the entire body of Advisory Council Members who share their expertise, knowledge, and life experiences to help strengthen the RSVP program.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program has started a new project designed to assist needy veterans in our community. The veteran and his family will receive 50 lbs. of food for a year from the Food Bank of Central Louisiana through their Adopt-A-Senior Program.
Through this program we thank our veterans for their service to us and our country.

We extend a warm welcome to our newest volunteer, Rose Franklin, who serves at
Rapides Regional Medical Center.
