IWe all know about Astrology, but few are familiar with the Chinese Zodiac. It is at the very heart of everything mysterious and inscrutable. The Chinese believe the year of a person’s birth is of great importance and is considered the primary factor in predicting the personality traits, physical and mental attributes and even the degree of success and happiness that will be achieved during a lifetime. You see, your life is all plotted and there are reasons for everything that happens to you. You no longer have to take full responsibility for how some things turn out.
It is said that the Chinese lunar calendar is over 4,500 years old and that Buddha named the years after the animals that came when he summoned all the animals to his presence.
January 23 is the first day of the Chinese New Year and it is The Year of the Dragon. The Chinese Zodiac consists of 12 year cycles with each year named after an animal that imparts distinct characteristics to all those who were born in it. It was all
According to Chinese scholars, The Year Of the Dragon is a very good year for everyone. It is a year filled with good luck, good fortune, prosperity and marvelous life-changing events. I sincerely hope so. Last year, The Year Of The Rabbit, was a disappointment and thankfully we won’t have to deal with the unreliable Rabbit for another 12 years.
If we had only known about the Chinese Zodiac we could have avoided so many unfortunate mistakes. For your future reference, look for the year you were born and you will know who you really are – and who everyone else is.
Year of the Dragon: 1928,1940,1952,1964,1976,1988,2000,2012. Dragons are eccentric and dangerous when aggravated. It’s all that fire you breathe. You are complex, have a very passionate nature and abundant health. Marry a Monkey, or a Rat later in life after you have calmed down somewhat. But early or late, don’t even think about a relationship with a Dog.
Year Of The Snake: 1929,1941,1953,1965,1977,1989,2001, 2013. Yes, you are a Snake, but it is a good thing to be. They are said to be wise, intense and to possess great physical beauty. Vain and highly tempermental, they are often stingy and a bit lazy. Snakes should strike after Roosters or Oxen, but never, never get entwined with a Pig. I hope this important information is in time to prevent any unfortunate porcine alliance.
Year of the Horse: 1930,1942,1954,1966,1978,1990,2002,2014. If you were born in a Horse year, you are elegant, attractive, highly intelligent and artistic. But Horses are also said to be impatient, and critical. Horses should gallop after Tigers or Dogs, but for heaven’s sake be skittish around Rats. You can see the validity of the Chinese Zodiac because horses become violent at the sight of a rat. Proves the whole thing.
Year of the Goat: 1931,1943,1955,1967,1979,1991,2003, 2015. Goats are creative and well liked, but timid and prefer anonymity. You can pull the wool over the eyes of a Pig or a Rabbit, but never go near an Ox. It’s all those hoofs and horns you have to watch out for.
Year of the Monkey: 1932,1944,1956,1968,1980,1992, 2004, 2016. Monkeys are intelligent and able to influence people. They are enthusiastic and like to work hard to achieve their goals. But they are easily discouraged. Swing through trees to avoid Tigers. Think about all those claws and teeth. Screech for a Dragon or a Rat. Oh, stop all that chattering. All the Chinese want is your happiness.
The Year of The Rooster: 1933,1945,1957,1969.1981,1993,2005,2017 You have a pioneering spirit, devoted to work and quest after knowledge. Unfortunately, you are also selfish and eccentric. Probably because of all that crowing. Remember, this: do not ever marry a Rabbit. They are nothing but trouble for you. Strut your stuff with a Snake or an Ox for a happy life. Look, I didn’t make all this up. The Chinese have believed this for thousands of years.
Year of the Dog: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018. Dogs are loyal and honest and work well with people. Hardly a news flash, but again lends credence to the Chinese Zodiac. Dogs are generous but stubborn and often selfish. For marital bliss chase after a Horse or a Tiger. Run for your life from a Dragon. Well, for one thing they are so easily offended.
The Year of The Pig: 1935,1947,1959,1971,1983,1995,2007, 2019. Pigs are noble and chivalrous. Their friendships last a lifetime, but unhappily they are prone to marital strife. What a shame, all that nobility and chivalry and still nothing but misery. For as good a chance as possible for a happy union, root out a Rabbit or a Snake.
Year Of The Rat: 1936,1948,1960,1972,1984,1996,2008,2020. Rats are ambitious and honest. Love to gather up beautiful objects and like to display them. They are thoughtful with those they love and generous, but tend to analyze everyone and everything. Scurry to find a Dragon or a Monkey., but remember for your own safety, Horses are out. You make them nervous.
Year Of The Ox: 1937,1949,1961,1973,1985,1997, 2009, 2021. You are bright, patient and inspiring to others. You can be happy by yourself, but you make an outstanding parent. Goats will break your heart. You should let yourself get yoked to a Snake or let a Rooster share your sunrises. All I have to say to all your unbelievers is this: Charlie Chan believes in it and that’s good enough for me.
Year Of The Tiger: 1938,1050,1962,1974,1986,1998,2010,2022. Tigers are strong and courageous, candid and sensitive. You never really know what they are thinking. It is wise not to pull their tail. You can purr with a Horse or a Dog, but never have anything to do with a Monkey. They may be cute, but remember it can’t last.
The Year Of The Rabbit:1939,1951,1963,1975,1987,1999,2011,2023. Rabbits, according to the Chinese, and they should know – are the luckiest of all. You are talented, articulate, affectionate, but shy. They spend their whole lives just wanting a peaceful existence. Who wouldn’t love a Bunny? A Rooster, that’s who. Don’t worry, there are lots of nice Goats and Pigs in the world – so hop to it and find one.
The Year Of The Dragon should be the beginning of everything wonderful. Buddha, Charlie Chan, the Board and Staff of the Council and I, wish you a Happy Year Of the Dragon.
