New Year’s resolutions never change.  My family members always resolved to lose weight and sadly that resolution was broken the first time there was a celebration of something. The best of intentions melted away when we saw tables piled with every possible delicious, scrumptious, diet-destroying dessert known to man.

People are still talking about losing weight and thinking about getting fit.  I like thinking about it, not actually exercising to get fit. All that walking and strenuous movement requires monumental will power. It has always been difficult for me to exercise and I know now that I have been going about the exercise thing all wrong.  A friend sent me an astrological treatise on exercise in which it is explained that each sign rules a part of the body. I didn’t know that.  It could explain a lot.

One must be aware of the body’s weakest link – and everyone has one.  Once you know what it is then you must gear your exercise regime to protect and strengthen it. I am going to tell you what yours is, so don’t worry.

ARIES:  Aries is not known for patience – in fact – Aries hates waiting more than anything.  There are no obstacles in the mind of Aries and they prefer a straightforward approach to anything.  They are brave, courageous, impetuous and direct.  You must drink a ton of water because as a fire sign you really need more water than the average person. Walk outdoors.  Your weakest link is your body’s endocrine system that causes you to get hot and burn liquids up quickly.  So, drink up!

TAURUS:  A force not to be taken lightly when they have set their minds on a goal.  Taurus is responsible, reliable, totally honest and works hard.  Taurus needs peace and quiet more than any other sign.  You should work in a garden for exercise since you are closely connected with the earth.  Your throat is your weak link so don’t put anything fried down it.

GEMINI:  Gemini knows a little bit about everything and they are very entertaining. They love jobs that involve talking or writing. You run on your nerves so relaxation is a necessity.  Yoga would be good for you. Your weakest link is your lungs so make certain you practice deep breathing.  In fact, breathing of any sort is essential.  Do it as long as you can.  And stop smoking.

CANCER: Your sign rules the home and the family.  Sensitive and easily hurt, they are happiest when someone needs them. They are very caring individuals and love personal privacy. Since you are ruled by water, swimming would be excellent for you.  The chest is your weak link.  Swim more, eat sweets less.

LEO:  Leos are proud and rise to the top even when they don’t want to. They are generous to those they love.  No other sign can be as warm if they feel loved and appreciated.  You have tons of energy but remember to take catnaps.  Your weak link is your heart.  And disappointments affect it adversely.  Both aerobic exercise and rest will protect your generous heart.  Then you can roar for many years to come.

VIRGO:  You are dedicated to detail.  You are happiest in professions that require mathematical calculations whether cutting lumber or keeping books.  Long walks every day are the perfect exercise for you. Your nervous system is your weak link so stop your overactive mind at least once a day and rest.  Think about saving money.  Having a lot of it quits the nerves.

LIBRA: You like to restore balance and create harmony and neither is an easy job.  You are courteous and can get along with almost anyone.  You do not like to be alone. You are inclined to try to want peace at any price. Your lower back is your weak link.  Stretching exercises will strengthen it.  Fatigue and tiredness come from too many sweets and not enough water. Other liquids don’t count – so pour water over those rocks.

SCORPIO: Scorpio feels deeply and their feelings last forever.  They can be relentless and obsessive, but have boundless energy and are experts at the delicate art of strategy. You enjoy mental exercises and can think faster than most people.  But you must also exercise the body. Your weak links are your hips.  Take daily walks, not runs.  Or, dance the night away.  Just don’t move your hips!

SAGITTARIUS:  You love adventure and are easily bored by routine. They are optimistic, adore foreign places, have wonderful senses of humor. Tennis and working with weights is right for you.  Your sign rules the arms so you have a great ability when it comes to things like archery, playing the piano and hugging people – but only those you know well.

CAPRICORN: Your sign rules everything.  You are authority figures, good at telling others what to do and are experts at formulating plans for structures as well as careers and organizations. You have the driest wit in the Zodiac and have a great sense of what is appropriate.  Your weakest link are your knees – so walk.  Don’t run.  You have great physical stamina but don’t overdo  it.  You will always be first at anything or anywhere.  Whether you want to be or not. You rarely want to be.

AQUARIUS:  The sign of the future - Aquarians love to rebel against whatever is currently accepted and insist on making their own rules.  They love change but once committed they will stay loyal to the bitter end. Your sign rules the circulation so exercise every day so you will be around to see all the changes in store as we all enter the Age of Aquarius. 

PISCES:  Compassionate, they have a tendency to take in strays – both people and animals.  You need to be careful not to be taken advantage of b others. You are the
dreamers and the romantics of the Zodiac. You need time to rest and recharge.  Your feet are your weakest link so Tai Chi. would be wonderful for you.  But no kicking. Remember to take care of your feet.
